Who is Who in Narnia?

Meet the Narnians

Aslan
The Lion, son of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea, a wise and compassionate being, but far from a tame beast. He is powerful beyond imagination and can be dangerous, despite his loving nature. He knows all there is to know about you and everyone else, you can't hide your secrets from him and he knows your story, though he won't tell you more than you should know and he won't tell you anyone else's.

Narnia was created by him. He is its guardian and it is very likely that he is responsible for pulling these many different beings into the world, to help recreate a balance. There is a reason for all he does, that much is certain.

Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.

He will come and go, but you must never press him. He's not a tame Lion, after all.

Caspian X, King of Narnia, Lord of Cair Paravel and Emperor of The Lone Islands

As you may have guessed, this young man is somewhat important, as he is the ruler of all. He has just very, very recently come into that position, named the rightful heir by Aslan himself.

Caspian is courageous, noble, handsome and everything one would wish of a king. He might still be a little inexperienced and brash at times, but luckily he has advisors to help him out. Here's hoping those advisors don't have ulterior motives, because unfortunately Caspian's position is far from being unquestioned.

Ysegrim, The Wolf
Who is afraid of the big, bad wolf? You should be. He's dark, dangerous and you don't want to be the one standing in his way. Some say he is the very same wolf that has been the White Queen's lieutenant all these centuries ago, but everyone knows that King Peter slew him. Still, certain similarities can't be denied.

Last but not least, a loyalty to the White Queen herself, though she's been gone for this long. Rumor has it that he is a driving force among those who want to bring her back. Be careful when you come across him, he might deem you useful. Still, perhaps better he deem you useful than a threat or an obstacle.

Reynard, The Fox
Where there's a wolf there has to be a fox to oppose him, it's drawn from the stories and it's how it's supposed to be. This particular fox makes claims to have been around since the days of the White Queen and longer, which very well might be true, though he's a notorious liar.

Also known as Reynard, Reineke and under many other names, he can take on a human form and he seems to have as easy a time to switch loyalties. While he seems fond enough of the young king, he's infamous for stirring up trouble for the hell of it, so who knows what he's planning. Foxes are crafty and clever creatures.

The Lady Adriana
Lady Adriana's husband was killed in the battle that earned Caspian his crown. Raised a proud Telmarine, she was suspicious of magic, talking beasts and mythical creatures before then, but with her sorrow her heart was filled with hatred. Only her children are still loved by her with fierce protectiveness.

She didn't leave, because she didn't trust the offer and because she wants to see Caspian broken and old Narnia destroyed for good. So far, she is still pretending to be loyal to the King, while she searches for means to reach her end.

Theseus, The Trader
Theseus was a Telmarine up until the war, when he abandoned the city and Miraz to make his living trading between the different cities. He has allies in many places, of all sorts, if you can call them allies. It is hard to judge when and where he will show up, but you can always be certain he will have new wares to trade. If you are having a difficult time getting your hands on something, he's the one to talk to. Just don't be surprised when he isn't too keen on talking back.

What the Hell is Narnia?

Narnia was created by Aslan's song some thousands of years ago. Due to a couple of unfortunate coincidences, the creation was disrupted by the arrival of Jadis, the White Queen, two grown sons of Adam and two children, a daughter of Eve and a son of Adam.

Because of what their disruption caused, Aslan decided that it should be a son of Adam and a daughter of Eve on Narnia's throne to restore and keep the balance and he further announced that whenever there would be a son of Adam or daughter of Eve on said throne, Narnia would thrive and prosper.

Many years later Jadis had managed to usurp the rightful ruler and place herself as Narnia's White Queen. With her she brought eternal cold and snow, winter without it ever being Christmas.

Through Aslan's will a daughter of Eve found her way through a wardrobe and beyond it she found the magical world of Narnia. Together with her three siblings she faced many adventures and a great battle and finally the two daughters of Eve and two sons of Adam became the rightful rulers with Aslan's blessing and a golden age for Narnia began once more.

The four siblings left for their world again, however, and after several more years, a dark age had begun for Narnia.

Telmarines from behind the Western Mountains had invaded the land and defeated the Narnians. The Telmarines were suspicious of magic, of talking animals and fantastic creatures, even of Aslan himself. The Narnians that had survived the invasion had no choice but to go into hiding.

It wasn't until Caspian - the rightful heir to the throne - had defeated his uncle with help of the four former kings and queens from the golden age, who returned to aid him, that Narnia became free once more.

Now Caspian has to face the challenge of trying to unify a country that has been divided for ages under one ruler.

Now is the time of rebuilding and new order. The Ruins of Cair Paravel are being rebuilt, Telmarines and Narnians are adjusting to a life of peaceful cohabitation, and King Caspian is learning what it means to be the King of Narnia.

In all the chaos, the Wood Between the Worlds has been disrupted, drawing in people and creatures through portals to other worlds. With unpredictable rates and results

The Journal

Magic Journals

When you arrive, you will have whatever you carried at the time with you. And a book. A book with endless pages, a book that shows pictures that move, a book that speaks in many voices and - last but not least - a book that can be read and written into.

It's light enough to be carried easily and somehow it fits easily into most bags, despite the many pages within.

Whether your character is a Narnian or Narnian OC, who was already living out their lives in the wild country, or a new comer to Narnia's great forests and shining shores, awaking to the spring breeze for the first time, they will find before them a book.

Not just any book, a very special and magical book.

One thing is certain. The book in the grass before you calls to you like a very piece of you, long lost and missing. Its pages blank, though they hold your tale, you can not read it. Only Aslan can, and he will tell no one's tale but yours to you.

Whatever the case, however strong your resolve, you still find yourself picking the strangely light book up. You may marvel at the way it seems to shift shape, size and weight to suit your immediate needs, or at the moving images, crystal clear, or words that appear like magic on the pages or carried on the air around you.

This book is yours. You know it is. Why ever would you leave it in the grass? Pick up the book, and let your story begin.

How to label Journal posts:
There are three kinds of posts you can make with the journals
Text: When you write in the journal, the writing is visible to everyone else and can be responded to as well.
Audio: With audio posts, others will be able to hear what you are saying and respond.
Visual:
These posts allow others to see and hear everything you are doing.

Because these books are magical items, you will find that, when desired, you can filter these posts to specific eyes. Be wary, however, for even the trees can talk, and you can never truly know who is on whose side.

Be careful. Magical journals sometimes have a mind of their own. Those tricky little books might just record without your knowledge if you do not watch them closely

Character Deaths

Character Deaths

If your character is dead or is about to die and you know he/she will due to plotting reasons, please leave a comment here. Aslan will breathe life back into them within one-three days, though the Lion likes to teach lessons, so consequences are likely. These consequences might be good or bad, and you're allowed to make suggestions here, just know that ultimately, it's all up to Aslan.

Even Aslan gets tired from time to time. So be warned. If your characters are dying too often or not learning their lessons, the punishments could become as severe as a character reset (loss of all Narnian memories) or a much more extended death. (This is to discourage reckless behavior and over-abuse of the reviving opportunities. The more often your character dies, the longer it will take for Aslan to bring them back. He is, after all, a very busy Lion.

Character: What character died?
Cause of Death: Link us to the thread in question if possible and line out roughly how it came to it if there is a longer plot involved.
Suggested Consequence: Was your character playing the hero and deserves a treat? Was he being an asshole and deserves to be taken down a peg? Write your suggestion here, though Aslan might have different plans.
How many times have they died: Is this their first death? Their 4th?

Optional Forms: Permissions and Character Information

Setting up a permissions post is not required, but it might make things easier on your follow players. Feel free to create your own form or alternatively, fill out the one we've attached below:

Threadhopping: Do you mind if other characters join in on a thread you have going with your own character and another?

Fourth-walling:
Do you mind if your character is recognized by other characters as being a fictional character they have heard about or in some other way renown? This of course only matters for characters where this is possible.

Backtagging: Do you mind if a thread takes a while to be finished or even takes a break when real life gets in the way?

Offensive subjects: Are there any subjects that should be avoided for whatever reason, that you don't want to have to deal with if avoidable with this character?

Hugging this character: Do you mind if your character gets hugged?

Flirting with this character: Do you mind if your character gets flirted with?

Optional In Depth Application

Beyond the Wardrobe does not use an actual application, but if you would like to post one for people to read, this was the original form which Beyond the Wardrobe required for applicants.

Mun Information

Player name: What you like to go by
Contact: E-mail to reach you through. (Aim or Plurk, optional)
Timezone: If you're not sure, you can check here
Characters in the Wardrobe Already: Do you have anyone else in the game?

Character Information
Character Name:
Species: Human (Sons of Adam, Daughters of Eve), faun, dragon, animal, centaur. Let us know what your characters species is.
History:
For canon characters, a link suffices, unless the canon character in question is so minor that not much about them is known, in which case you should go into more detail.
A fairly thorough written history for OCs is helpful for other players to get to know your character, be sure to show the character is well thought out and how they fit into their world (or the world of Narnia if they are a Narnian OC)
If your character is bringing in past game history, make sure to include that here as well

Why this character: Why this character in this setting?
Canon Point: For Narnians, give us a canon point you are taking them from, and how or why they ended up in the time of Caspian's rule as King, if they were not already from there, otherwise just a canon point to show people where your character is coming from.
Personality:
What's your character like? Why is your character the way they are?
Abilities/Strengths and Weaknesses:
Is your character a wizard? A telepath? Speaks to trees? Turns water into chocolate? inexplicably weak as a kitten around mint? Let us know here.
Some characters may have to have their powers/abilities toned down a bit. This is a game and we want everyone to have fun. If your character can turn day into night or some other such extreme abilities that affect the world or characters in a major way, tell us so we can work out how to make this game friendly for everyone.

Premise

Caspian had taken the throne that was rightfully his.
Narnia was finally under the rule of a King that allowed the Narnians to be out in the open again.
The Telmarines had been sent to their long-forgotten home, unless they wished to stay.
All was as it should be once more, but things are hardly ever that easy.

Narnians and Telmarines who had centuries of disbelief and hatred between each other were not so quick to fall into a peaceful cohabitation.
Not all Narnians were ready to be ruled by a son of Adam once more, or forgive the Telmarines for their long reign of violent suppression.
Some wished to bring the White Witch back, while other stood fully behind the new, young King.

The Telmarines, too, were divided.
While some welcomed the Narnians back, others regarded Caspian as a traitor and loathed the new rule.
Telmarines had always taken what they had, after all. Not given it away to beasts and fairytales.

Maybe you've just been getting a coat and reached a bit too far into a wardrobe that opens to another world. Perhaps you've been standing on a train platform and found yourself in a forest the next moment.
Whatever way you've been pulled in, there is a reason and you are part of the story now.

One thing is clear, Narnia once more needs help to find its balance.

And this time it has chosen YOU.

Plot Suggestions

Plot Suggestions

Any suggestion is welcome! We have a wonderful setting here with opposing sides and interests, we have a world filled with magic, there's pretty much no boundary to fantasy.

If you have any suggestions, just leave a comment here. Perhaps it's something you've seen somewhere else do that we could implement here somehow, perhaps draw attention to something your character is planning that might have greater effect or maybe a special ability of your character could cause wide-spread havoc with.

Let us know, we'll make the most of it!

Mun Name:
Plot Idea: Is this a plot you want to implement as a player or a musebox-wide effect you want us to make use of.
To the best of your abilities, explain the plot and ideas involved in it to us so we can implement this in the future. Is this a plot that will have lasting or temporary effects?
Suggested Plot Length: explain If you have an idea on how long this should run, let us know! We'll take a look and figure it out.

Rules

Rules

To make this musebox work, there are some basic rules. Anything you don't find here is very likely to be found under FAQs and if you're still at a loss, feel free to drop a question there.

No Drama: IC drama within the musebox is not only possible, but likely and supposed to be a lot of fun. However, we want to keep the out of character drama to a limit. So try to talk about problems when they arise and if there is something you're not sure how to solve, approach a mod and we'll try to help. No flame wars or anything of the kind will be tolerated, so please come to us before it can get that far.

IC is not OOC:
Meaning that if a character is a real dick to yours, that doesn't mean the writer behind them isn't the sweetest person in the world. If you for some reason take real offense to something a character says or does, just inform the writer in question and work something out.

No Godmodding: Don't assume things about other characters without checking with the writer behind them first. Especially if you are writing a fight, it's encouraged to actually plot it out with the other people involved. Basically, just don't write other people's characters for them. If you are after a specific plot, then plot. Don't force it.

No Perfect Characters: Unless you are Aslan which you're not (and even he isn't perfect). Let your character lose once in a while, don't assume everyone has to fall in love with your character and so on. Imperfect characters are much more approachable, anyway.

Character Limit: To keep things fair to everyone there is a character limit of FIVE characters per player. Please respect this cap and your fellow RPers!

Activity Requirements: You can come and go as you please with your characters. There is no need to worry about activity. Just play as the mood strikes you and have fun.

Age Restriction: Due to the nature of the musebox taking place in a war-ridden world and how there will likely be sexual situations as well - we're not in Kansas anymore - you have to be at least 16 to apply. Appropriate warnings should be placed on each entry.

Shipping: We're fine with you shipping whoever with whoever, or whatever with whatever. Just make sure to put up the appropriate warnings when things get heated or fade to black and take it somewhere else. If you have a problem with a ship someone else plays, then avoid them as much as you can. However, this musebox isn't just about shipping, so don't just join for shipping purposes or force a ship on anyone.

PBs: Narnia is a strange world, that pulls in people from other worlds and that in general is rather weird. Having two people that look the same is hardly the most shocking turn of events. Decide for yourself whether your character takes it in stride or is freaked out at seeing someone else with their face. Optionally, just ignore if it happens, especially if the same PB is from different movies, for example, and doesn't look that much alike.

Plots: There will be optional events organized by the mods or players and other elements that you can interact with or pass on as we stir the game into different directions. If you have ideas for plots, comment here.

Character Death: First of all, we don't want that to be a frequent occurrence, but of course it can happen, especially in a game like this. In such a case, comment here and after one week, your character will live again, with Aslan having breathed life back into them. It is very likely that this comes with consequences, rewards or punishment from the Lion, we will inform you of that in reply to your comment there.

Journals: More on the journals and a picture of how they look can be found here. Basically it works much the same as the devices that are usual in other games, it's just classier and magical.

Log Threads: Use this format to set up logs:
Who: What characters are involved?
Where?: Castle, forest, mountain... The setting!
When?: Particularly important when in relation to any events, or else just say whether it's day or night.
What?: A short summary of what's going on.
Warnings: Any warnings about what happens, language, violence, sex... Try to remember to update this as the thread goes on.
Open/Locked to: Can other characters come by or have you planned this for just yourself and certain others?

Permissions and Optional Character Information: Not required, but it might help others out to better understand your character or to have a permission form they can check on your journal. In case your character needs specific permissions due to what they can do, this is especially important. Go here for all your permission needs.

HMD: Again, not required, but having a post set up where others can give you constructive criticism might be helpful for all involved. Remember to only give constructive criticism to others as well. Here is the How's my Narnia? post where you can help the mods out by giving feedback and suggestions about the musebox.

F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

Narnia? What's that? What sort of creatures live there?
You can find all sorts of useful Narnia information here

Who are the NPCs of Narnia? Who is Aslan? King Caspian?

Learn all about the BTW NPCs over here

Where can my character live?
Pretty much wherever you want. There are many villages with little cottages, just waiting to be filled with life and laughter, there are forests, wide and deep, to hide many kinds of creatures, there's the castle, if you happen to become a servant there or perhaps even Caspian's personal guest. Stranger things have happened.

What about technology?
Well. Anything you've brought, be it iPod, flashlight or an electric car is going to work, but only until you run out of fuel, battery, energy, whatever. Then you're shit out of luck. As for any cellphone or other communication device, feel free to throw it at people to get a message across, but your services don't reach here.

What currency do people use?
Given how divided Narnia currently is, this is hard to say. The most consistent method is probably trading goods, especially between the different fractions. But there is also a more modern system that uses currencies like coins, gems and the like, especially when trading with other countries. Basically, just get people to take what you have in exchange for getting what you want.

What is there to eat?
Narnia is a beautiful and wild world. There are many trees and plants which grow fruits and vegetables. Lakes, streams and rivers to go fishing in, and villages and creatures to trade with for food and other goods. You can also hunt the wildlife, but be warned. While killing the savage, wild creatures of Narnia is generally accepted, killing Narnians is not, amongst the Narnians themselves. You hunt at your own risk.

What about my Character's things?
When you arrive, you will have whatever you carried at the time with you. And a book. A book with endless pages, a book that shows pictures that move, a book that speaks in many voices and - last but not least - a book that can be read and written into.

My character has a pet/Daemon/dragon/etc. Can they bring them?
This is something of a case by case. In most cases, your character is welcome to bring a pet with them, so long as that pet is not a creature sentient enough to be applied for. For example, Hiccup's dragon, Toothless, can not be brought with him. However, a character such as Zorro's horse, Tornado, or your character's loyal canine companion, is welcome to be brought along. If you are still not sure whether your character's pet can be brought or not, you can contact the mods.

What about Daemons?
Daemons are a special case. Because a Daemon is the other half of a person's soul, they are considered a part of their human, not a secondary character. When apping a character with a Daemon, it is important to be sure you cover both their personalities, as well as provide samples that prove you are capable of playing both halves of the pair.

What is this Journal my characters have arrived with?
For more on the magic Journal, go here

How did I get this book?
There are two options for your character. Either they have been pulled from whatever world they come from to Narnia, or they have lived in Narnia already, whether as an original or a canon character. With either option, the character suddenly finds a book - a journal if you will - in their possession.

Someone has been godmodding me/making me uncomfortable. What do I do about it?
Contact the mods and explain the situation to us. We will act as mediators and help to work it out. This is a game after all. The goal is to have fun!

What happens if I die?
Character deaths are explained over in this post

What sort of characters can I bring?
Beyond the Wardrobe is a very open-minded musebox! Characters from different canons, Narnia is made for this. World hopping is pretty much how it came to be what it was in the first place. Any canon is welcome, any character is welcome, but be prepared to adjust them somewhat if they are very powerful. We accept Canon characters and Canon AUs (only one AU per character is allowed in the game). We also accept Narnia characters, Narnian Original characters, and Original characters!

I have some criticism/suggestions/etc
We'd love to hear it! Beyond the Wardrobe has it's very own HMD for the game and it's mods.

My character is a god/has super powers/is better than yours...
Please be aware that in order to make Narnia a player friendly RP, the mods may ask you to limit or tone down your characters abilities. This is ultimately up to the mods, and while we are willing to work with you, mods will have the final say on just how powerful your character can be allowed to be.

This musebox sounds awesome! How do I join?

There are many types of characters you can bring to the musebox:

A canon character from any canon other than Narnia.
A canon character from Narnia.
An Original Character from any other world than Narnia.
An Original Character from Narnia.

If you want to add a character to the game, simply comment here with the information listed below. Comments are screened and will be unscreened as soon as your character is approved. This also doubles as the Taken Characters post.

This isn't really an application, all we want from you is:

Player Information
Player name: What you like to go by.
Contact: E-mail to reach you through. (AIM or Plurk optional)
Timezone: If you're not sure, you can check here
Characters in the Wardrobe Already: Do you have anyone else in the game? Reminder to limit yourself to a maximum of five characters in game.

Character Information
Character Name:
Canon: Let us know what canon your character is from, as well as if it is an au, an original character or an original character native to Narnia. If it's an au or original character, Narnian or otherwise, just a bit of information would be helpful, especially for Narnian characters, who the NPCs (Specifically Aslan) might know quite well.
Species: Human (Sons of Adam, Daughters of Eve), faun, dragon, animal, centaur. Let us know what your characters species is.
Why this character?: Tell us why you want to bring this character to Narnia. Doesn't need to be long, just a few thoughts on why it would be fun to have the character in game!

Please include character name in the title of your response.

If your canon is not already on the list, reply to the letter your canon starts with a blank comment and the Canon title in the comment header in ALL CAPS.

Ex:
Doctor Who would be DOCTOR WHO in all caps as a response the the D thread
The Chronicles of Narnia would go under the C thread and not the T thread.
